I'm an art and architectural historian, artist, and writer from Aruba (the Caribbean).
My interests are a blend of creative practices, art and architectural history, and small scale self-sufficient gardening at homeπΏπ π«β reflecting on which stories get told, which ones don't, and what it looks like to change that. As an artist I move between painting, drawing, writing, and video-making, with themes circling around Aruban heritage/identities, mental health, and the Papiamento language (my native tongue).
In 2018, I co-founded 6 ISLANDS Zine, a bi-annual publication archiving stories, voices, and ideas from the ABCSSS-islands in the Caribbean and the diaspora: Aruba, Bonaire, CuraΓ§ao, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Maarten. The zine started as an idea I had been brewing since my graduate years in 2015/2016, while still living in the Netherlands. Each issue explores a theme: language, sexuality, decolonial practices, myths and myth-making. The zine-making and community events bring together everyone from across the islands, be it writers, artists, or thinkers. In 2026, I passed on the torch to the 6 ISLANDS Zine team, to focus on new directions. I am proud of what we built together and excited about what's next to come for 6 ISLANDS Zine πππ. β 6islandszine.com or Archive.org
I hold an MA from the University of Amsterdam, where I focused on History of Architecture of the ABCSSS-islands in the Caribbean.
