Manera kiko asina? Bon, mi ta interesa pa mira con (nuances di) arte, arkitectura, herencia, cultura, y kisas mas, ta manifesta na Aruba. Den palabranan di e cantante Portoriqueño, Bad Bunny: “YHLQMDLG”. Bon biní den e mundo di reflexion di yu’i tera diasporico regresando bek su pais.

[English]

[Title translation by author: “Reflect with intention” (Reflection 1)]

To write exploratively. To write in everyday language,
experimental language,
Papiamento language.
To write non-academically. To write non-rigidly.
To write within its time,
to write for its time,
to write without worrying about time.
Writing is subjective. The subjective is unavoidable. Always.

To write in order to bring the content I consume along with the emotions induced. Bringing the two points together, that is reflection. Reflection comes practically automatic, without the need to continuously think that I HAVE to reflect. In different corners of the contemporary world, where digital information exchange happens instantly, it is my choice to reflect with intention. That is, I choose to try to be aware of when I want to give myself the mental space to reflect. Conscious of which topics I allow myself to return to.

Combining painting, video and writing under a pseudonym, are ways I try to answer questions related to
my (our) identity?,
the marginalized bodies,
diaspora life,
(marginalized) sexuality,
our language is dynamic, functional accent is not a
blasphemy, perhaps the disruption of the ego.

NEVERTHELESS! In this section called “Reflexion”, I won’t touch muchor anythingabout my own art. This space is dedicated to exploring Aruba’s creative and cultural landscapealternative perceptions that take shape and/or reimaginations that emerge. I dive into specific areas or blend them together. Such as? Well, I am interested in looking at how (nuances of) art, architecture, heritage, culture, and perhaps more, manifest in Aruba. To quote the Puerto Rican singer, Bad Bunny: “YHLQMDLG”. Welcome to the world of reflections of diasporic child of the soil returning back to their home country.
